Services / Architecture audit + rescue

Architecture audit: find out what's actually wrong.

One to two weeks inside your codebase. You get a written report with prioritized findings, architecture diagrams, and a concrete roadmap. From there I can execute the fixes, or your team can.

Typically 1–2 weeks

This is for you if…

  • The app has outgrown its original architecture and every new feature takes longer than the last.
  • You inherited a codebase and nobody can tell you where the bodies are buried.
  • Performance, cloud costs, or error rates are creeping up and the team is guessing at causes.
  • You're heading into due diligence and need the technical story straight first.

What you get

  • Written report with prioritized findings
  • Architecture diagrams + recommended changes
  • Performance + security + scaling assessment
  • Optional hands-on execution of the roadmap

Process

How the engagement runs.

  1. 01

    Access + context

NDA signed, read access granted, one hour with whoever knows the system best. That's all I need to start.

  2. 02

    Deep read

Architecture, data model, query patterns, deployment, security posture, scaling ceilings. I read code, not just diagrams.

  3. 03

    Written report

Prioritized findings (what's urgent, what's expensive, what's fine), with diagrams of current vs. recommended architecture. Written for both engineers and the board.

  4. 04

    Optional: execution

If you want the fixes done rather than documented, I can execute the roadmap on a retainer afterwards. The report stands on its own either way: your team can act on it without me.

FAQ

Common questions.

Everything you need to trust the number before you act on it.

How do you prioritise what to fix?

By risk and cost, not by how interesting the problem is. Findings are ranked so you can stop reading partway down and still have fixed the things that mattered: what will break or leak, what is quietly expensive, and what is merely untidy and can wait.

What do you need access to?

Read access to the repo and infrastructure dashboards, plus one hour with your most senior engineer or founder. NDA comes first. Discretion is the baseline; I'm sole engineer on a B2B SaaS used by major German real-estate firms.

What's actually in the report?

Prioritized findings ranked by risk and cost, current-state and recommended architecture diagrams, a performance/security/scaling assessment, and a sequenced fix roadmap your team can execute without me.

Our stack isn't Next.js. Is that a problem?

Audits are stack-agnostic in a way builds aren't. I've audited and rescued Node, PHP, Python, and mixed legacy systems; the failure patterns (N+1 queries, missing indexes, tangled deploy pipelines, absent monitoring) repeat everywhere.
